About us

Yelverton is almost at the centre of the rural area we cover, which includes the villages of Bere Alston, Bere Ferrers, Buckland Monachorum, Crapstone, Dousland, Hexworthy, Horrabridge, Meavy, Milton Combe, Postbridge, Princetown, Sheepstor, Walkhampton, Yelverton and all the interspersed smaller hamlets.  We also have members from Tavistock and Mary Tavy.
Statistically we are about two thirds men and one third ladies, with ages spanning over four decades and from a wide range of professions, businesses and organisations. We all share a common interest in helping others while having fun.
We meet on Wednesday evenings, either by Zoom or at one of the local hostelries, to enjoy each other’s company and to plan our future events and charitable donations.  About once per month we try to have external speakers to talk about topics of interest.  On the fifth Wednesday of any month we usually have an away day, which could be one of a range of activities.
When meeting face to face we meet in the bar between 1900 - 1930, usually at either 'The Rock' or at the Who'd a' Thought It and move through to a private room for a one course meal selected from the standard menu.  The drinks and meal are entirely optional and some members just come along for the discussions afterwards. It’s the evening so we like to keep things fairly relaxed and informal, but we are very effective at what we do.  There is a business meeting once per month (on Zoom) when we do a roundup of all ongoing and planned activities, but current issues can be discussed at any meeting.  Guests and prospective members are always welcome.
We run or are involved in a wide range of activities and events in the local community.  Have a look around our website.
